This wooden shell tenor drum may pre-date the First World War but in any event it very likely is one of the drums carried overseas by the 15th Bn (48th Highlanders) in 1914 even though it carries no identification marks other than the Regimental Crest.
The crest (buckle badge) is hand painted in gold and red. There is a band of colours along the top batter rim in black/red/green/red/black and also on the lower batter rim.
