We, the Undersigned Patrons, do each of us severally, for ourselves respectively, in consideration of the promises and agreement hereinafter contained on the part of the others of us respectively, and the promise made by Sir David L. Macpherson by his signature hereto, covenant, promise and agree with the said Sir David L. Macpherson to pay to the Treasurer of the 48th Highlanders the several sums set opposite our respective names for the payment of the sums respectively for the purpose of paying for the equipment and expenses connected with the formation and maintenance of said Highland Regiment.
