48th Pipers marching past Canadian Officers

48th Highlander Pipes and Drums marching past officers. P0528 The band is wearing their kilt, sporran and accoutrements of their formal parade uniform. For Sicily and the 1st half of the Italian campaign they had only drab battle dress, and not even their glengarries, as their dress uniforms remained in England. During a visit on 24 November to Torella by Defence Minister J.L. Ralston and General Crerar, it was noticed that they did not have the dress uniforms which had been admired by the General in Canada. General Crerar immediately authorized the uniforms to be sent from England.
