Large equipment roll stenciled ” Lieut. JCD Desterre 48th Highlanders.   It is 26″ x 50″ heavy cotton.  Brown on one side and strips of white cotton on inside.  Several straps present to tie up roll.

John Francis Lash, a barrister in Toronto,  was 10 months with the 48th Highlanders Militia battalion beginning as a Provisional Lieutenant in the 48th Highlanders as recorded in G.O. 15 on 10 September 1914.
