B75061 Cpl William Stanley Pogue was killed in action on 20 December 1943 on the advance to Ortona while trying to save fellow Highlanders wounded on the battlefield.

Circular silver 48th Highlanders cap badge belonging to CSM Frank H.C. North, with a falcon head and the regimental motto “DILEAS GU BRATH” written around the border, which is shaped like a belt. On the back are two eyelets with a long pin through them for attaching to cap.
