48th Highlanders company advancing in good battle order on Adrano Road near Nissoria.  A few minutes after this the road was shelled by mortars.  Although this stretch seems flat, as it is on the plateau in central Sicily, most of the going in Sicily and Italy was over rugged mountainous terrain.
