Sgt Outhwaite, Gordon (MiD)

Gordon Outhwaite was an original “39er”.  He returned to Canada with 1st Bn 48th Highlanders in 1945 as a corporal who had distinguished himself in action and was Mentioned in Dispatches for his leadership in action as a section commander with B Coy on the Senio line during January 1945.

After the War he returned to the Highlanders as a sergeant. In civilian life he served as an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police and later as Messenger/Guard with Brinks. He was very active in the organization of the post-war Old Comrades Association and served as its president for several years and acted as CSM of the OCA Guard on several parades.  He passed to the Upper Camp in July 2009.
