Private LE VOIR, WILLIAM

Killed during the assault to capture Torella, Sicily north of Campobasso with the goal of pushing the Germans back out of the range to shell Campobasso where the Canadian army was resting and pausing before resuming the advance up Italy.

Buried at Moro River Cemetary Grave 7, Row D, Plot 4.

William enlisted at Toronto with the 48th Highlanders on Sept 8, 1939.  Served with the CEF from Brest to St. Malo and back to Liverpool England in 1940.

Military records show several terms at military hospitals in 1940 an d 1943 for unstated reasons.

Pte. William LeVoir was awarded the following medals for his service.
