Pte Daniels was a member of one of the stretcher parties supplied by the 15th Battalion for the attack near PASSCHENDAELE on the 6th November 1917.  It was necessary for him to pass through some extremely heavy shelling while carrying casualties to the Dressing Station. The NCO in charge of the party was instantly killed and Pte Daniels immediately took charge of the party, and bravely continued the work throughout the remainder of the day.

In the evening of 8th November he organized a burial party to go to the forward area near PASSCHENDAELE and buried two NCOs of his company during a very heavy bombardment.  His bravery on these two occasions are deserving of the greatest praise.

Bar to Military Medal

For conspicuous gallantry on April 9th 1918, Sgt Daniels observes a party of Germans advancing 50 yards from our outpost with a light machine gun.  They immediately took cover in shell-holes.  Displaying fine initiative and with a total disregard for his personal danger, Sgt Daniels grasped the situation and rushed the Germans whom he took by surprise, engaging them single-handed with bombs.  They made off after an exchange of bombs, leaving the MG complete with ammunition in his hands, with which they returned to our lines.  This party was evidently working in conjunction with an enemy raiding party operation on the battalion on our left and it is undoubtedly due to the prompt and gallant action of Sgt Daniels, that a raid on our front was frustrated.
