Front of postcard is a vertical black and white image of 48th Highlanders in uniform with Wolseley helmets and shouldering rifles marching down a crowded street towards the foreground/camera, with white space below image and caption reading: “The 48th Highlanders leaving Torento (Canada)”, likely that “Torento” as printed on postcard is misspelling of Toronto, and in the bottom right corner is a logo of publisher: “E-L-D” (E. Le Delay, photography and printing company located Paris, France), likely printed in 1914 and shows 48th Highlanders leaving the city for WW1. Back of postcard has printed on centre top: “CARTE POSTALE”, meaning postcard in French, and below it from left to right are printed: “Correspondance”, a double vertical black line dividing the space, and “Addresse”, the postcard is unused and still blank.
