James A. Gordon was an original 48th Highlander, # 70, assigned to D Company and sworn it on 22 October 1891 at St. Andrew’s Hall by Lt. Col. Potter.
Included in donated file are copies of three letters from his uncle Thomas Gordon to his brother James M. Gordon, father of James A. from South Africa in 1861, 1864 and 1866. Thomas died in South Africa.
Photo shows James and wife Mary on their 50th Anniversary in 1954. James died in 1955.
