Pte. Harold C. McKay’s Telegraph Home – 1946

A folded sheet of paper that has printing on the front side and numbers written on the back, the top third of the front of the paper has a mahogany background and printed the company logo and name of the “CANADIAN NATIONAL TELEGRAPHS”, the logo is on the upper left as a maple leaf with the words “CANADIAN NATIONAL” in a rectangle on top of the leaf and an underline under the word “NATIONAL”, additionally at the centre top is printed “EXCLUSIVE CONNECTION WITH WESTERN UNION CABLE SERVICE”, at the centre bottom of this mahogany section is printed: “W.M. ARMSTRONG, GENERAL MANAGER TORONTO”, the remaining two thirds of the paper have horizontal thin red lines across the length of the paper, at the top left of this section of lines are printed “From” and “To” above and below each other respectively, beside the word “To” is printed in ink with a type writer stating “Mrs Dan McKay”, in the top right of this section typed: “Halifax N S Jan. 23 1946”, in the centre of the paper is typed “Arrived on Maurentania leaving on special army train today. H C McKay”, this is most likely referring to the ship RMS Mauretania, in the bottom left of the front side is printed with red ink “FORM 6121”, on the back of the paper is written in pencil math doing multiplication and addition for 26 x 23=598 + 40 = 638.
