C3 NBCW Gas Mask (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Warfare)

A 7-inch (17.78 cm) by 9-inch (22.86 cm) black rubber gas mask. The C3 NBCW (Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Warfare) protective mask is a full-face respirator, primarily used by military personnel and first responders. It was developed in Canada, with early versions potentially dating back to the 1950s and 1960s. The C3 is an upgrade to the earlier Canadian Light Respirator series and was in service until the 1980’s.

Holiday closure

We will be closed on Saturday, July 25, 2026 and will reopen on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

While the museum is closed, our Digital Guided Tour is still open. It is the best way to explore the museum from home, with stories and context for selected displays.

You can also take our 360° Virtual Tour for a visual walk-through of the museum rooms and display cases.

We will try to respond to your email messages as soon as possible.
