WO1 Dwain Oliver of the Grenadier Guards briefs the Canadian Contingent attending for the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This first briefing was held at Pirbright Camp from which the Canadian Contingent was deployed to specific tasks during the funeral and ceremonies.
Five 48th Highlanders represented the 48th Highlanders of Canada at the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 2022: Commanding Officer, LCol Jason Morrische, CD.; RSM (CWO) C. Reesor, CD; MCpl Graham Robertson; 2Lt Outram-Kuzma and Cpl Scarlino of the Pipes and Drums.
Her Majesty was the Colonel-in-Chief of the 48th Highlanders, an appointment HM accepted in Oct 1947 when Princess Elizabeth. This appointment, and that of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada and the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Scotland, were the first appointments accepted as Colonel-in-Chief. The 48th Highlanders thus was privileged to have Her Majesty as Colonel-in-Chief for 75 years.
