Front of postcard is a colourized photograph of the 48th Highlanders on parade in downtown Toronto heading westwards, photograph taken in front of and near 110 Adelaide Street W. (between York St. and Bay St.), soldiers in full dress uniform with red tunics, kilts, and tall black bonnet feather hats, near the top right printed in red is: “48th Highlanders, Toronto, Canada”, and near the bottom right printed in black is: “104075. JV”. Back of postcard is not used and has no writing, although faded, printed in the top and centre is the company logo “V & SONS” on two globes, above and below it are the words: “FAMOUS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD”, and on the left and right are the words: “POST CARD.”, further below the card is divided in half by a printed straight line, on the right of the top of the line is printed the words: “Address Only”, in the top left diagonally printed is the word “Correspondence”, in the top right is printed a rectangle to mark space for a postage stamp. Also printed on the back left side vertically are: “The Valentine & Sons’ Publishing Co., Ltd. Montreal and Toronto Printed in Great Britain”
Note: location is identified by the store signs on the left side of the photo – The Mendelssohn Piano Co. and W.S. Johnston & Coy. Printers, which were located at 110 Adelaide St. W. and and 108 Adelaide St. W. respectively in the 1910s.
