Robert Hardy enlisted with the Grey and Simcoe Foresters and was given the service number B117780. A newspaper article indicates he served overseas with the Cdn Armoured Corp and a framed plaque includes a 48th Highlander cap badge and four medals (France and Germany Star; the Star of Italy; 1939-1945 Canada Volunteer Service medal and the Defence of Britain medal) His brother, Trooper George Hardy was killed in action on 7 June 1944, the D-Day landings in France.
