Roy Head joined the 48th Highlanders cadets during WW2 and retired from the Cadets at the end of the war. Although he did not join the active Regiment Roy returned in the 80s and 90s and volunteered as a member of the Old Comrades Drill team which participated in the 48th Highlanders parades on days such as Remembrance Day and Church Parade. Roy died 22 Jan 2023. .
