Private JACKSON, JAMES

27803 Pte Jackson, J. attested on 22 September 1914 with the 15th Battalion, 48th Highlanders. Overseas with the 15th Battalion he survived the gas attack of 2nd Ypres in April 1915, and was with the battalion at Festubert and Givenchy. During this period he qualified on a Pigeon Course conducted from 5 to 7 January 1916. He was sent to hospital on 4 March 1916.  He returned to the battalion on 25 March. He was sent again to hospital on 26 April 1916 and then Struck Off Strength of the 15th Battalion on 21 June 1916, “Classified Permanent Base and transferred to CCAC Folkstone”.
