PTE Burke, Carl Victor

Wounded on 20 July 1943 by German medium artillery as the battalion advanced, in well-spaced 5 yard intervals along the road from Assoro, Sicily to the main Adrano road. The barrage caught two companies in the open 1 1/2 miles short of the road junction. Pte Burke died of his wounds three days later.

Son of Clarence and Margaret Burke; husband of Rita Burke, of Sarnia, Ontario.
