On the 19 May 44, “D” Coy 48th Highlanders of Canada was ordered to proceed to objective at 735135. Lt Snively was ordered to take his Pl along the right of the road and attack the objective from the right flank.  On proceeding to the objective his Pl came under heavy fire from the vicinity of a house located in a draw on the right flank. Lt Snively immediately assaulted the position and through his cool, determined and courageous leadership the Pl succeeded in. silencing a MG post and captured a 88MM a/Tk gun, 6 POWs were taken and five of the enemy killed.

This action resulted in allowing the Coy to continue on to its objective eventually permitting the Bn to come through.

In the attack the Hitler Line, Lt Snively again lead his Pl with such determination and bravery he was eventually killed.

Note: As noted on p 702 of Dileas –  It was intended that Lt Snively would be submitted for a gallantry decoration for his courage during the battles for the Hitler Line.  Unfortunately as he did not survive the battle he could only be submitted after the fact for an MID.
