Brigade Commander, 32 Canadian Brigade Group – 2023 – Present

Col. A. R. Best joined the 48th Highlanders of Canada in 1993, seeking his commission as an infantry officer in 1999 and held command positions from Platoon Commander through to Commanding Officer from 2011 to 2015. He has deployed overseas with NATO forces to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Afghanistan, and the Baltic Region. Prior to his return with 32 Brigade Group, Col Best served as Deputy-Director of the Army Reserve at Canadian Army Headquarters. He is a graduate of both the Joint Command & Staff Program as well as the National Security Program at the Canadian Forces Collect and holds a Master of Defence Studies from the Royal Military College of Canada. Colonel Best was made Brigade Commander of 32 Canadian Infantry Brigade Group in 2023, succeeding Col J. McEwen, CD, also a former 48th Highlander Commanding Officer.
