Maj RP (Bob) Lyon

Wounded at Cemetery Hill, 27 December 1943. Cemetery Hill was a brilliant penetration 1.2 km behind the German lines to the West of Ortona. The battalion fought three days alone behind the lines before the Germans withdrew. Their position threatened the only road in and out of Ortona that was available for the Germans to use during the battle in the town. “Major Bob Lyon, CSM Gord Keeler and Cpl Howard Anderson had been reckless of their lives during the fight on Cemetery Hill.” Dileas page 483

“Lost his life in a tragic accident at a battle-drill school in England. A fixed Bren gun shifted during an exercise.” from Dileas
