Managing Knowledge Base Comments
This article explains how Museum managers and editors handle comments submitted on Knowledge Base articles.
When a comment is submitted
Museum management receives a notification containing the comment and its related article. Review the comment promptly and decide whether it identifies an article correction, requests clarification or requires a direct response.
Review and response
- Open the related Knowledge Base article and read the comment in context.
- Reply when clarification is needed or when the commenter should be told what action will be taken.
- Correct the article when the comment identifies inaccurate, unclear or outdated instructions.
- Check any links, article titles or related instructions affected by the change.
- Tell the commenter when the matter has been dealt with.
Removing obsolete comments
Once the article has been corrected and any necessary response has been provided, remove comments that no longer add useful information. This prevents resolved discussions from confusing later readers.
Periodically review Dashboard → Comments for unresolved, obsolete or inappropriate comments. Delete spam and remove personal or sensitive information that should not have been posted.
Comments that do not belong on the article
If a comment reports a technical fault, security concern or problem requiring webmaster action, record or forward the necessary information through the appropriate management process. Do not leave sensitive technical details in the public comment thread.
For the volunteer instructions, see Suggesting Improvements to the Knowledge Base.
