Gothic Line
Lt. Reid did not stop; he led a daring fighting patrol into the depression in front, and at once became tangled with Germans in three houses. The Lieutenant and his men captured the first house in a fine display of aggression. They could now contain the second farm house, but not the third, and it was this casa which brought Lt. Reid’s grief. As he was hotly engaged with the second house, reinforcements rushed on him from the left, coming from the third. They scattered his patrol, and Lt. Reid was cornered in the courtyard, and knocked out. With Pte. Bill Heasman, he was captured.
