Photos from 2010 Apeldoorn and Netherlands Trip

Stored in a white paper envelope are a set of 36 mostly colour and a few black and white photos from 48th Highlanders’ 2010 trip to Apeldoorn’s Liberation of Netherlands parade and ceremonies at Wilp and Holten. Various photos feature veterans and current members of the 48th Highlanders, such as LCol William “Bill” Stark, CD, CQMS Herb Pike, Sgt Gordon Outhwaite, and HCol George Beal, and Dutch officials, such as then Mayor of Apeldoorn Fred de Graaf, Princess Margriet of the Netherlands, and her husband Pieter van Vollenhoven Jr. To note, LCol Stark, CD, travelled with his own pipe band which he formed in Orillia and is wearing the kilt of his band. Some of the activities featured in the photos are HCol Beal giving a presentation of a framed photo of the oil portrait of LCol Mackenzie at a church in Wilp, veterans travelling in vehicles as part of a parade in Apeldoorn, and activities at Holten Canadian War Cemetery including: veterans and family visiting individual graves, performance by the St. Andrew’s College Pipe and Drum band, the laying of wreaths before a memorial at by various officials.

On back of the printed photos are printed the name of photo paper’s maker, product name, and possibly printing company as well: “FUJIFILM   FujicolorCrystalArchive Paper”. Also printed on the back faintly is the file name of the printed image.

Written with pen on front of envelope in top left corner is: “Holland 2010”. Printed on back of envelope’s cover flap is the envelope’s maker’s name and logo: a crown and under the word “Hallmark”.
