The 134th Battalion, a full complement of 1200 left for overseas on 5 August 1916. Two companies reinforced the 15th Battalion (48th Highlanders). The 134th were intended to be a fighting battalion as a part of a proposed 5th Canadian Division. However, when the army decided against a 5th Division, they were demobilized in the UK on 12 February 1918 and the men sent to a variety of units and services. Six officers and 176 ORs were killed.
