Major John Eardley Wilmot Wright D.S.O., Photo in Camp with Bell Tents

Black and white photo of Major Wright sat on a bench in camp. He is wearing a kilt, kilt apron, khaki gaiters, hose (or hose tops) with garters and boots. He is also wearing a collared shirt buttoned at the neck, but  without a tie. In the background are several rows of bell tents. In the foreground is a folding camp chair and what appear to be the guy ropes of another bell tent.

There are no markings on the image side of the photo.

On the back of the photo, someone has written the number 7 in pencil.

Holiday closure

We will be closed on Saturday, July 25, 2026 and will reopen on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

While the museum is closed, our Digital Guided Tour is still open. It is the best way to explore the museum from home, with stories and context for selected displays.

You can also take our 360° Virtual Tour for a visual walk-through of the museum rooms and display cases.

We will try to respond to your email messages as soon as possible.
