LCol Harry Pedwell pins the Overseas Service Pin on the uniform of Major Ron Alkema. Looking on is Captain (Padre) Greg Bailey. During his career with the 48th Highlanders of Canada, in which he started as a Private, rising to Regimental Sergeant Major then after continuing as a Captain became Commanding Officer, LCol Alkema served in Cyprus – 1985/86 and 1992; Bosnia; Sierra Leone – 2006/07; and, Afghanistan 2008/09. The Ceremony was held in the Officers’ Mess, Moss Park Armoury.
