The poetry was written by Captain Kim Beattie and published in 1929. The first page has a dedication written in black ink. : Col. C. E. Bent, CMG, DSO   In appreciation of days & nights which even you do not remember. Sorry for putting you on page “30” – Sincerely   Kim Beattie.

The poem on page “30” entitled “Bomb-Proofers    The Chaplain’s Man”   names Colonel “Charlie” Bent in the third verse.  Kim Beattie authored two histories of the 48th Highlanders: For the First World War  “48th Highlanders of Canada 1891 – 1928” and for the Second World War “Dileas – the 48th Highlanders of Canada 1929 – 1956”
