The 74th Battalion, CEF (Canadian Expeditionary Force) was authorized on July 10, 1915, and recruited in Peel and York Counties in Ontario, with mobilization at Camp Niagara. It embarked for Great Britain on March 29, 1916, and was subsequently used to provide reinforcements for the Canadian Corps in the field. The battalion’s personnel were absorbed into other units on September 30, 1916, and the 74th Battalion was officially disbanded on September 15, 1917.
