General Sir Ian Hamilton GCB, GCMG, DSO with Brigadier Eric Haldenby, former Commanding Officer of the 48th Highlanders, and LCol W W Southam, Commanding Officer in discussions at Regiment’s 50th anniversary parade at Redhill, Surrey, England on 12 October 1941. General Hamilton, of the Gordon Highlanders, was Honourary Lieutenant Colonel of the 48th Highlanders from 1911 to 1947.
