Used for items in boxes in storage that are multiple categories. If the box is primarily one classification type use that classification and have a full listing by each classification in the description.

Documents listing 48th Highlanders; NOT official orders. MUST be in PDF form.

Routine Orders 25

Formal Orders made by the 48th Highlanders. Includes Part I and II Orders, other regimental orders. MUST be in PDF form. Does NOT include War Diaries nor Orders attached to War Diaries.

War Diaries: Monthly War Diaries including all attachments, Pt I and II and other records. Monthly War Diaries and their attachments are PRIVATE. Summary War Diaries, covering multiple months and without attached orders are PUBLIC. All must be in PDF form.

Accoutrements 103

Items used by a Highlander that are not part of the uniform, weaponry or equipment. Includes Service Pins worn on civilian clothing and items of civilian dress for formal events, eg Davidson tartan cummerbund.

Paintings, drawings, sculptures including prints or photos of the artwork.

Books & manuals 1472

Published and authored books. Includes training manuals, booklets and pamphlets. Does NOT include Regimental Publications such as The Falcon.

OFFICIAL Certificates, Notices, Messages, Memoranda to or from the 48th Regiment or to a Highlander. Excludes 48th Highlanders Routine Orders. Includes Orders from higher command levels.

Official maps used by the military. Also overlays for maps and drawings of military maps for illustrations.

Military items used by the soldier or unit that are used in performance of duty or role. NOT personal items.

Items created for events involving the regiment or a Highlander, including retired Highlanders. A SUB-CLASSIFICATION MUST ALSO BE SELECTED.

Programs for Regimental Changes of Command/Key Positions, Church Parades, Public Parades, Mess Dinners, Regimental Balls and similar events of Higher Commands. Menus of Mess Dinners and Dances. Funeral Programs of a Highlander. If a biography of a Highlander is included in the document, add it in PDF form to the Gallery then link to and update the Highlander soldier file.

Christmas, New Years and other occasion cards from or to a Highlander.

Invitations and tickets 117

Formal invitations to events such as Changes of Command, Regimental balls, special parades etc. Tickets of attendance.

Photos in hard copy or digital.

Medals issued to a Highlander. May include medals to non-Highlanders if part of a family collection or approved by the Curator. Includes Ribbands. Does not include medallions for competitions.

Music or voice records/LPs/tapes/digital; videos. Excludes print media to be placed in Documents- Print Media

Memorabilia 177

Items. non-official, obtained by a Highlander or by the Regiment for remembrance.

Items recognizing accomplishments of a Highlander, 48th team or regiment. Includes cups, mugs, plaques, medallions. Items are kept personally or by the regimental team/group but are not worn on a uniform.

Uniforms or parts of uniforms worn by a 48th Highlander on duty. May include items worn by an authorized regimental association such as White shell, OCA badges, officer's blazer Falcon crests.

Weapons, or parts of weapons, issued to a 48th Highlander. Enemy weapons require Curator approval to accession and to classify as a Weapon or Memorabilia.

Artifacts that may be handled by the public or used in presentations to schools and groups. The artifacts MUST be duplicates of existing artifacts and surplus to needs as agreed by the Curator. The accession numbers for Education are placeholders only.

Monuments, stained glass windows, plaques etc. that commemorate an event, person or the 48th Highlanders. Usually in a location outside the museum in Canada or overseas.

Mess furnishings 2

Artifacts in the official messes or offices of the Active Regiment. To be marked PRIVATE unless agreed by the Curator or located in the Museum. Includes paintings, images, antique cases, trophies, pipe banners and memorabilia.

Artifacts that have been accessioned for which a classification has not been agreed. (Excluding drafts). Items are to be classified and removed from Not Assigned.
